Trump: We Carry the World’s Countries on Our Shoulders

Al-Taj News – U.S. President Donald Trump called on Wednesday for U.S. interest rates to be cut rapidly, shortly after the Federal Reserve announced a quarter-percentage-point rate increase to combat inflation, marking the first such increase in three years.

The U.S. president accused the Federal Reserve of raising interest rates for political reasons.

In a post on his Truth Social platform, Trump wrote: “We are carrying almost every country in the world on our shoulders, and this cannot continue. Lower interest rates in the United States, and do it quickly!” He stressed that rates should be 1% or lower.

In a move expected on Wall Street, the central bank raised the benchmark federal funds rate to a range of 3.75%–4%, amid persistent inflation exacerbated by the recent rise in oil prices.
